CPA Delegation Participate in 2024 AIPPI Youth IP Seminar & Take Home Best Speaker and Best Moderator Awards
On 14-15 June 2024, the Youth IP Seminar hosted by the Chinese Group of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI China) took place in Datong city, Shanxi province of North China. Our firm, China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), participated in the event with a delegation led by CPA deputy general manager Mr. Xiong Yanfeng, also director of AIPPI China, together with CPA Beijing Office deputy director Mr. Wen Dapeng.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Youth IP Seminar, this year's seminar featured 13 sub-forums surrounding hot issues in the field of intellectual property, with 11 among them conducted in English and 2 in Japanese. The opening and closing ceremonies of the seminar were presided over by AIPPI China secretary general Mr. Li Yi, and the opening remarks and closing speech delivered by AIPPI China vice president Ms. Lin Xiaohong and director Ms. Shao Yali respectively. AIPPI former secretary general Ms. Annie Tsoi delivered a keynote speech for the seminar.
The delegation of our firm participated actively in the sub-forums of the seminar. The “AI: accelerating the advent of future, IP: shaping the future of AI” forum was moderated by CPA Trademark Department manager Mr. Yang Jianzhong, and CPA patent attorneys Ms. Cao Fang and Ms. Li Mengjie participated in its panel discussion. At “Pharma Patent Practice” forum, CPA patent attorney Mr. Xiao Chuanxin gave a keynote speech in English, and Mr. Yang Jianzhong further acted as the moderator of the trademark law and practice forum, which was conducted in Japanese.

This year the Youth IP Seminar launched some new awards, namely, the Best Speaker Awards and Best Moderator Awards. CPA is glad to win the first prize in Best Speaker Awards and the second prize in Best Moderator Awards. The winners of these awards were selected by the deliberation of the jury as well as on-site votes of the participants.
AIPPI, established in 1897, is the most important non-governmental intellectual property advisory agency of the World Intellectual Property Organization. CPA has always been an ardent supporter and participant of the activities initiated by the AIPPI Headquarters and AIPPI China, and several senior attorneys of our firm are serving as executive members of the AIPPI. The upcoming AIPPI event is the 2024 AIPPI World Congress, which will be held in Hangzhou city of Eastern China's Zhejiang province from 19 to 22 October.
