CPA Delegation Attend 146th International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting
The 146th International Trademark Association (INTA) Annual Meeting was held in Atlanta, the US on 18-22 May 2024 (US time). The INTA annual meeting is a significant event in international trademark community as an occasion for exchanging experiences, insights and thoughts. This year's meeting attracted nearly 9,700 representatives of governments, international organisations, enterprises and other institutions from 136 countries and regions.
China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) participated in the event with an 8-member delegation led by deputy general manager Mr. Hu Gang. Members of the delegation also included CPA US Office senior trademark attorney Ms. Crystal Gao, Hong Kong headquarters Trademark Department deputy manager Ms. Wan Kit, Beijing Office Trademark Department deputy manager Mr. Li Yue, International Filing Department deputy manager Ms. Rachel Zhang, Beijing Office Legal Affairs Department senior litigator Mr. Ma Butian, and Beijing Office Trademark Department senior attorneys Mr. Justin Jiang and Ms. Li Nan.
CPA's delegation members took the opportunity to meet with representatives of many domestic and foreign enterprises and intellectual property (IP) law firms of long-standing cooperation with us, exchanging the latest trends in IP development, discussing cutting-edge issues in current trademark and legal fields, and exploring ways of protecting IP rights overseas for domestic enterprises.
During the annual meeting, CPA deputy general manager Mr. Hu Gang, as a board member of the INTA, attended the board meeting of INTA, as well as a series of panel discussions hosted by the board of the INTA jointly with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and some major national and regional IP offices.
CPA also actively assisted the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Commercial Legal Service Center and the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) in running an exhibition booth to jointly promote CCPIT's commercial legal service and the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo, which will be held in Beijing on 26-30 November this year.
In addition, our firm co-hosted the China Trademark Association Forum of the theme "IP and Innovation - Similarity, AI, Ranking, and Beyond: How New Technologies Play a Role in Determining Likelihood of Confusion". The forum was moderated by CPA deputy general manager Mr. Hu Gang, and addressed by INTA CEO Mr. Etienne Sanz de Acedo and CTA vice president and secretary-general Mr. Wu Dongping. CPA International Filing Department Ms. Rachel Zhang gave a presentation on the latest practice in the assessment of the likelihood of trademark confusion. The forum, with an attendance of nearly 200 industry practitioners from home and overseas, was fruitful and interactive with dynamic discussion between the speakers and the audience.
During the forum, the Top 40 Foreign-Related Trademark Agencies in China were announced, and our firm is honoured to be rated one of the top 40, reflecting our professional expertise, efficient service, and clients' recognition of CPA as one of the most outstanding firms in China handling foreign-related trademark matters.
Besides the said top 40 award, our firm won another recognition during the INTA annual meeting. And CPA, by virtue of its outstanding international trademark agency experience, comprehensive business strength, and global influence, was listed as one of the top 10 in the comprehensive ranking of China's 500 foreign-related trademark agencies, as well as awarded "Diamond AAA +++" (the highest level) ranking and earned key recommendation.
