Chinese Translation by CPA of "Intellectual Property Strategies for Start-ups: A Practical Guide" Recently Published
Recently, a Chinese edition of "Intellectual Property Strategies for Start-ups: A Practical Guide" was published. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) is very glad to have the opportunity of undertaking the Chinese translation of this useful guide, which offers pertinent advice for start-ups in tiding over the high risk period of starting a business and in creating and protecting the value of their intellectual property (IP). The translation project was entrusted to our firm by the book editor Dr. Stefan Golkowsky and Intellectual Property Publishing House.
Dr. Stefan Gorkoski is a renowned patent attorney and partner of Berlin-based law firm Pfenning, and a founding supervisory board member of Diamontech AG, an award-winning medical technology start-up also based in Berlin. He has vast experience in IP legal services, especially in the areas of IP investment portfolio management and merger and acquisition transactions.
This book adopts an accessible writing style and uses illustrative case studies to outline the basics of IP in a start-up context. It provides guidance to founders and their advisors in developing successful IP strategies, including building patent portfolios, contract drafting, financing, due diligence, and asset management; and also exemplifies best practices for IP strategies for startups; provides practical advice on how to protect IP rights and avoid infringement of third-party rights and how to play the role of IP in valuing and financing a business; as well as review the legal consequences and related pitfalls of failing to properly protect IP rights.
We hope this work will bring some valuable reference and insights to domestic start-ups and entrepreneurs, and contribute to the healthy development of local enterprises. At the same time, we would also like to offer this work as a tribute to two upcoming significant events coinciding this year, namely, the 40th anniversary of the promulgation of the Patent Law of the People's Republic of China and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of our firm. Our firm, since its establishment in 1984, has spared no effort to better itself in concert with the introduction of China's Patent Law and evolution of its IP system. Today, CPA is one of the largest IP firms in China, and we are glad to have made use of our expertise and experience to benefit the development of the Chinese IP system over the decades while endeavouring to provide best IP service to our clients, both domestic and foreign, along the way.
