CPA Invited to Lecture in Shanxi on Trademark Strategies for Companies Going Overseas
On 20 November 2023, at the invitation of the Shanxi Provincial Intellectual Property Office ("Shanxi IPO") and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shanxi Sub-council ("CCPIT Shanxi"), Ms. Rachel Zhang, deputy manager of the Trademark Department of China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), attended the Shanxi Province Foreign-related Intellectual Property Protection Promotion Conference held in Taiyuan city. At the conference, Ms. Zhang gave a lecture to local government agencies and enterprises in Shanxi province on the subject of "An introduction of international trademark system and trademark strategies for enterprises going overseas".
During the one-hour plus lecture, Ms. Zhang, leveraging her rich experience at CPA in assisting domestic enterprises going overseas, gave an overview of the major international trademark registration system, and, taking into account the characteristics of the exports conducted by the enterprises of the province, expounded on notable matters related to filing trademark applications in various countries and regions including ASEAN, the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Korea. Ms. Zhang's lecture was very well-received by the attendees for its details and down-to-earth approach in information and experience sharing. And our firm, as the vice-president unit of China Intellectual Property Society and vice-president unit of China Trademark Association, are happy and full of gratitude to have the opportunity to help popularising IP knowledge to domestic enterprises, institutions and administrative agencies.
This conference was jointly hosted by Shanxi IPO, Shanxi Provincial Copyright Bureau, Department of Commerce of Shanxi Province, Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shanxi Office, CCPIT Shanxi, and Taiyuan Customs for the purposes of improving Shanxi province's foreign-related intellectual property (IP) risk prevention and control system, and enhancing the mechanism and service capabilities for responsse and guidance of overseas IP disputes. The conference was attended by relevant government officials as well as representatives from IP agencies, research institutes, foreign trade enterprises, foreign cooperation enterprises, and foreign-invested enterprises. This event was also broadcast live at the Tencent conference.
