China's 2023 National IP Week Activities Kick Off on 20 April
The 2023 National Intellectual Property Publicity Week ("IP Week") has kicked off on 20 April 2023 and will last until 26 April 2023, which coincides the 23rd World Intellectual Property Day. The theme of this year's IP Week is "Strengthen Legal Protection of IP Rights, Provide Staunch Support for Innovation on All Fronts”. The IP Week, under the leadership of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), features activities across the country conducted by 18 government organs including the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The launch ceremonies of the IP Week took place in the main venue in Beijing as well as in five regional venues in Liaoning, Jiangsu, Hubei, Xinjiang, and Guangzhou.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of cooperation between China and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Relevant commemoration will be made jointly with the activities of the IP Week, which comprise thousands of programmes and events to be conducted nationwide to promote IP culture on institution, enterprise, community, and campus levels, so as to enhance the overall society's awareness of the importance of IP rights protection.
As part of the IP Week activities, the SPC convened a press briefing on the first day of the IP Week, releasing its 2022 edition of Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Chinese Courts, Top Ten Intellectual Property Cases of Chinese Courts, and 50 Typical Intellectual Property Cases of Chinese Courts.
