CPA Delegation Attends 13th China Trademark Festival (19 June 2023)

From 16-19 June 2023, the 13th China Trademark Festival (CTF) was held in Dongguan, Guangdong province. The CTF was hosted by China Trademark Association, Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation, and the People's Government of Dongguan Municipality. China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) attended the event with a five-member delegation including deputy general manager Mr. Wang Jingchao, Trademark Department manager Mr. Yin Longzhi, and Trademark Department deputy manager Ms. Rachel Zhang.

With a theme of "Trademark Empowers New Development, Brand Leads Dual Circulation", this CTF consisted of the 17th China Trademark Annual Conference, the 2023 China Brands and Trademarks Exposition, and a series of themed activities, Nearly 30 forums and salons were held to discuss a wide range of issues, among them administrative protection for trademark, development of regional brands and time-honored brands, international trademark law and practices, intellectual property (IP) talents in China, strengthening geographical indication trademark registrations to assist rural revitalization, use of IP data for development of high-quality brands, and governance of malicious trademark registration.

The CTF was also a time for announcement and presentation of awards to recognise the top reputed Chinese brands; contributions to creation and development of brands and trademarks; outstanding trademark firms, trademark teams, and trademark professionals of the year; and typical trademark cases of the year.

CPA is glad to share that our firm continued to be awarded the honour of "Excellent Trademark Agency" this year. In addition, our trademark invalidation case involving "红梅杏" (red plum apricot) trademark and trademark case involving review of disapproval for registration of a series of device trademarks were selected as typical trademark cases of 2020-2021; and our trademark administrative case reviewing rejection of "TOKYO MARATHON" trademark was named a typical trademark case of 2021-2022.

This CTF attracted nearly 2,000 participants from home and abroad, including leaders of market supervisory authorities at various levels; officials of embassies in China; representatives from World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), enterprises, and universities; and trademark professionals from IP agencies. The next CTF will be held in Xi'an, China in 2024.
