CPA Attends IP Sub-Forum of Second Pearl River International Trade Forum

On 15 April 2023, the Second Pearl River International Trade Forum - Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection and High-quality Development of Trade ("IP Forum") was held during the 133rd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair). Top leaders from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Guangdong Provincial People's Government (GPPG), Ministry of Commerce of People's Republic of China (MOFCOM), and the Intellectual Property Protection Department of China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) attended the IP Forum and delivered speeches, joined by their counterparts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) addressing the IP Forum via video.

The IP Forum is a new addition to the Pearl River International Trade Forum. It updated the recent accomplishments of IP protection in China, explored new paths for its international IP cooperation, and injected new impetus into the country's increased participation in international IP governance.

Among the participants of the IP Forum was China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA), represented by our general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe, Shenzhen Office director Ms. Wang Danqing, Electronics & Electricity Department manager Mr. Liu Peng, and Shenzhen Office deputy director Mr. Xiao Risong. General manager Mr. Wu also participated in the event as a special guest speaker of the forum's strategic dialogue session. His speech, carrying a theme of "strengthening IP protection, assisting in high-level opening up, and accelerating the building of a strong trading nation", elaborated on three topics, namely, the country’s devoted attention to IP protection; the relationship between IP protection and the building of a strong trading nation; and the main roles and functions of CCPIT’s legal team and IP team.

The IP Forum was jointly organised by the CCPIT, MOFCOM, and GPPG; and our firm also took part in the coordination work of the forum. The event had an attendance of about 200, including officials from relevant ministries, and local government and departments; representatives from international IP organisations, think tanks, professional associations, and leading enterprises as well as experts and academicians from home and aboard.
