CPA Delegation Visits Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration

On 6 February 2024, China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) general manager Mr. Wu Yuhe led a delegation to visit the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA). Our delegation was received by SIPA director general Mr. Rui Wenbiao, and a meeting was held between Mr. Rui along with his colleagues from SIPA Intellectual Property Protection Department and International Cooperation Exchange Department (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office) and CPA delegation.

During the meeting, SIPA director general Mr. Rui gave a brief introduction of SIPA's institutional functions and its work over the recent years in the areas of IP creation, protection, exploitation, management and services. He also mentioned about SIPA's establishing and developing of strategic IP protection platforms overseas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, and forging of international ties in IP protection.

CPA general manager Mr. Wu thanked Mr. Rui for his warm reception, and expressed high regard of SIPA's substantial accomplishments in creating a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment for the municipality, as well as its assisting China's higher-level opening-up, and facilitating Chinese enterprises' going global. Mr. Wu then shared about CPA's efforts in helping domestic enterprises' going global, such as by advising enterprises on strategic deployment and management of their international IP portfolio, and further referred to our bilingual magazine China Patents and Trademarks as a conducive means of publicising IP protection at home and abroad.

Among other issues, our delegation also exchanged views with Mr. Rui and his colleagues on International Trademark Association's plan of hosting a pre-annual meeting reception in Shanghai.
