CPA Deputy General Manager Delivers Keynote Speech at IP & Supply Chain Forum during China International Supply Chain Expo

On 30 November 2023, the Forum on Safeguarding Supply Chains through Intellectual Property, a side event of the first China International Supply Chain Expo, was held at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall). China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. (CPA) deputy general manager Mr. Hu Gang attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech.

The theme of Mr. Hu's speech was "Strengthening IP Service Industry to Boost Innovation in the Context of Dual-chain Integration". Referencing the Outline for Building a Powerful Intellectual Property Nation (2021-2035) issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Mr. Hu clarified the role and multi-faceted nature of intellectual property (IP) service industry, overviewed the development status of the national IP service industry, analysed the Opinions on Accelerating the High-Quality Development of the Intellectual Property Service Industry and the 14th Five-Year Plan on IP talents, and explained the importance of IP services from the perspective of IP protection index. Mr. Wu further elaborated on the necessity of integrating the industrial chain and the innovation chain, echoing the objectives of this chain expo, and shared some anticipated new IP services, citing the Action Plan of Intellectual Property for Industrial Innovation and Development (2023-2027). Finally, Mr. Hu briefed the guests and representatives attending the forum on our firm's historical development and key practice areas.

Other keynote speakers of the forum included experts from the Intellectual Property Utilization Promotion Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), CCPIT Patent and Trademark Office, IPR Department of Huawei Technologies, and the Intellectual Property Working Group of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC), and the topics discussed covered patent commercialisation and exploitation, enterprises' overseas IP risk management, patent licensing, how IP boosts innovation chain, and energising enterprises' asset composition through IP exploitation.

This forum was organised jointly by CCPIT Commercial Legal Service Center, CCPIT Patent and Trademark Office, and our firm. Apart from Mr. Hu, CPA Beijing Office deputy director Mr. Wen Dapeng and CPA Chemistry, Biotech & Pharmaceutics Department manager Mr. Li Liantao, together with colleagues from relevant departments, also attended the forum.
